Once again due to player absence and availability tyhe make shift Knights ran out against our rivals from across the tay, Fife making the trip for the hastily arrange fixture as our early ice slots come to an end as the regular season begins.
Despite falling behind to a couple of goals, the knights clawed back to level 2-2, although the Ice Dogs utilised SNL marksman Davie Robb efficiently, he struggled to find players to match his vision, consequently against the flow of possesion dogs failed to capitilise. Goals were traded like for like seeing the first stanza square between 10 goals. Leuchars growing in confidence begin to increase the pressure on the visiting goalie, who by now had been subbed for a replacement, however no goals were to be found despite some sublime passing and ethic from all 3 lines. Fife, however still pressed in this end to end encounter, some lapses in composure allowed them to force ahead, leaving the Knights trailing 5 - 7 going into the third. In a clean contest with little to shade between the squads the game developed in it's end to end style with time unfortunately ebbing away for the Orange and Blacks, final score 7 - 11. A good performance and plenty to be positive about. Despite the reverse the club played some attractive hockey and remained competitive throughout, a few more arrivals and some returnee's will soon see the team on to the next stage, for now, 'work in progress' _________________ Once a king always a king, but once a knight's enough.
Having watched the first 2 periods from the stands, it looked agood display from the Knights the main diffence between the teams being the quality of the Fife Goalie in the second and third periods. We had plenty of shots and were unlucky to have Jock's second goal scatched for having a man in the creade, I did not think that Bill's eyes were that good anymore to spot that!!!
