After braving all the heavens could throw at the them, once again the usual trimmed down away game squad arrived in Elgin, in time for tea and a decent pre-match prep. Due to the Knights short line up, and not just me, Chris B and wee man, the team were permitted to guest a few familier faces from our RAF Scotland derby foes, Daz willaimson in goal, Mark Searby, Jamie Lord and Dundee boy Craig Johnstone all joining the team.
Elgin's small ice pad does not lend itself well to the Knights expansive game play and for most of the first period we found ourselves stifled and unable to open up the game, goals however started to trickle on, Craig Johnstone finishing the contest with a 7 goal haul.
As the minutes ebbed away so did our composure and discipline, several unessessary penalties compounded by woeful penalty killing allowed the Dolphins a brief flirt with scoring. Final score 12-3, sadly more flattered us than than them, all to often we allowed our guests to do the work for us, only finding the net 5 times on our own. Despite the dimensions, the woeful officiating and bus legs, I feel strongly that we are capable of much much more.
Positively however, yet again some excellent performances were apparent, Dougie settling in well on a line with Charles and Chris, who himself put in arguably his best performance to date, industrious, determined and lively throughout.
Next game away to Fife, report to follow......
