ODIHAM VORTEXLadies and Gents,
You may be aware that due to unforseen circumastances, Odiham Vortex have had to cease playing under the RAF Banner, while the Club and it's existing members are working extremely hard to recover a financial deficit, caused by a previous regime, their existence has been suspended until they have reached and proved they can operate legitimately.
I am approaching us as a team to suggest that there may be some assistance we, the Knights may be able to offer, albeit the only help Odiham need at the moment is financial.
Let's put this into reality, friends, players and ex members of this team have been placed in a siyuation whereby they are being penalised, both financially and by the suspension of their club due to cicumstances outwith their control. We have to appreciate that this could well have been us, or we may one day find ourselves posted to Odiham and unable to play.
For the greater good of RAF Ice Hockey, I would like to asks serving members of the Knights for a donation toward the Odiham Vortex, no amount is too small and every penny greatly appreciated.
Please contact me for further details, however I would like to suggest we do this during the RAF Champs, possibly with the support of the other Service teams.
Your comments greatly appreciated

And you could also ask the Odiham Players to put in a fiver each also to help their club - they could also do raffles like Knights have in the past - they could also give up a packet of fags or a pint too.
Just a coupla suggestions not that i want it to sound like i am against helping others.
I hope any cash that is given to another club however small has no effect what-so-ever on my beloved Knights and that other RAF teams will be helping also and that if the Knights are ever in this position that they are helped just the same.

Usual Suspect ;)

Many thanks for your comments,
It would be an ideal opportunity to collect money for admission, however do we have capacity to post somebody at the entrance, and how many people are we anticpating attending?
I really can't comment or speculate on what other teams may or not do for the Knights should we ever be unfortunate to be in this position.
No money whatsoever will be diverted from Leuchars Knights Funding, I am purely suggesting, we make a gesture towards the burden they are facing.
The debt that, as I explained was left by a previous regime, and is being tackled by remaining members, some of which are new to the club, and I can assure you all that they have already made a considerable contribution from their own pockets.
That said, we are under no obligation, and if the feeling is not too bother then so be it.

Always thought Wossy was a ranker myself.
Plans maybe afoot to organise a raffle or some fund raising event during the Champs, half the proceeds go to winnings, other half the Vortex.
Just mooted ideas, so fingers crossed we can help them out a little bit.

I'll definitely chip in a few pints worth for a good cause.
Can't see Hutch, Paul and they rest of the boys with no no team can we guys!
Apart from anything else, just as we're making progress with getting the sport further recognition, this is the last thing we need.
Dig deep!

Well its not MY fault!!

GUYS and SEWY, thanks for the extremely generous gesture i am glad that you think that it is a cause worth fighting for and as we are in a continuous battle to try and save the team it would be extremely foolish to turn the help down but assured any and all financial help put towards the vortex will be put into the teams account in aid to clearing all debt owed and getting back on track with rebuilding the team, thanks again,

The ice rink will sell admission tickets for us at the gate! We will have to print them, around 200 would be good. Not that we will get that many spectators but at least we can try. A media campaign will help.

What about raffling or selling any unwanted Xmas Gifts that most of you will have stored in the back of a cuboard or up an attic! I know jock has a few drinking games, electric shock games that he's too old to play LOL I am also sure some people will have unwanted bottles in their drinks stash!
If the vortex guys want some embroidery stuff done they could let me know and i'll see what i can rustle up :)
Just a thought!

Seems nobody was on the "Raise money for Odiham/Leuchars Gig"
Just under £100 of embroidery goods not raffled or auctioned.
In the end it was all given away so apologies that there wasnt any money raised and Jock is lighter in the wallet department.
